Tempe, Ariz.-based rock/post-hardcore band Reactions today announced the release of a brand-new song, “Rebirth,” and has accompanied the new song with a lyric video.
“Rebirth” is the first new music from Reactions since the quintet released its Archetypes EP on June 19. The EP drew praise from critical outlets, which noted the group’s modern heavy rock sound that draws influence from the likes of A Day To Remember all the way on down to 30 Second To Mars.
“Rebirth” builds upon the success of the Archetypes EP while showcasing Reactions’ tendency to never stop evolving. The band has made a point of consistently releasing small doses of new music to its rabid fanbase, releasing three EPs within two years and now putting out a new single with “Rebirth.” Reactions is looking to put out another new record this summer and will be playing SXSW this year.
Lastly, the band will be embarking upon a month-long series of tour dates that they are dubbing the Rebirth Tour. The dates will take Reactions from Scottsdale, AZ on February 1 around the south, southeast and midwest until the tour winds up back in New Mexico on February 28. All of the tour dates can be seen in the tour admat below.
REACTIONS is not the typical rock band you might expect to find in Tempe AZ. Comprised of a diverse array of musical backgrounds, the band is made up of “secret” members, all hailing from previously well-known independent projects. Constructed of driving rhythms, catchy hooks and hard-hitting breakdowns, Reactions has created a new blend of rock and post-hardcore that is sure to turn heads.
Reactions was founded on a question…“Music is something you hear, right?” In an era where we obsessively consume the appearance of products, the concept of “hearing” may well be non-existent. Reactions launched the “Faceless” movement soon after the band was formed. The intent is to promote self-expression and encourage listeners to take pride in being different.
By covering their faces, band members Joseph Cook, Otis Loken, Tom Wright, Tony Azevedo and Kane Cooper give up the individualized attention typically desired by musicians. The act is done in an attempt to create a community of people brought together not by a shared interest in the latest trend, but by the love for music. The band uncovered its faces online during the release of its Archetypes EP in mid-2012.
Reactions was formed from members of Arizona pop-rock band Sound The City, Minnesota hardcore band Of Salt & Swine and Arizona rock band RadioDriveBy. The combination of these members triggered a profound change in musical direction.
The band’s debut EP, Under My Skin, was produced by Dan Parker (A Change of Pace, The Summer Set, Hello Hollywood), and exhibits listener-friendly rock ‘n’ roll and infectiously laced pop, mixed with the hard hitting components of post-hardcore.
Starting 2012 with a fire, Reactions released their sophomore EP, For What It’s Worth, produced by Curtis Douglas (The Maine, Blessthefall, This Century). From the EP’s more defined post-hardcore sound to its softer ballads, For What It’s Worth certainly lives up to its namesake. The follow-up release, Archetypes, was a six-song EP that built upon the band’s established sound in mid-2012. In 2013, the group released a new single titled “Rebirth” and is heading out on the Rebirth Tour in February. There are plans to play SXSW and release a new record in the summer.
