The Village Voice announces today its third annual 4Knots Music Festival will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 1-8pm. New York’s free, all ages summer music festival will make its triumphant return to New York City’s South Street Seaport. This is the Voice’s 13th annual free music festival.
“We view this year’s festival as an opportunity to help bolster hope and help a community that was hard hit by Hurricane Sandy,” said Josh Fromson, publisher of The Village Voice. “The 4Knots Music Festival is excited to bring back a free, all day music showcase to this historic New York City landmark.”
Local community members like Marco Pasanella, local business owner of Pasanella & Son Vintners and Acting Director of the Seaport Neighborhood Merchants’ Association, support the return of the festival noting the importance of bringing business back to the area. “We could not be happier to have the 4Knots Music Festival come to our area,” Pasanella said. “Just one more sign that the neighborhood is coming back thanks to the help of organizations like The Village Voice!”
In addition to kicking off the 4Knots Seaport Community Outreach Program, this year’s festival will also feature two stages and an impressive lineup of music. Lineup announcements are set to begin in the coming weeks. The 4Knots Music Festival consistently presents New Yorkers with the best up and coming artists breaking through the scene today. Past performers include: The Black Angels, The Drums, Dan Deacon, Oberhofer, Titus Andronicus, Crocodiles, Nick Waterhouse, Bleached, Archers of Loaf, Yeasayer, Delicate Steve, Hospitality, Devin, Eleanor Friedberger, Team Spirit and more at South Street Seaport.
“South Street Seaport is thrilled to once again host the 4Knots Music Festival,” said Lincoln Palsgrove IV, senior manager, The Howard Hughes Corporation. “The Seaport has been a longtime supporter of the independent music scene, from sponsoring music festivals to producing series that foster local talent. We are committed to energizing the neighborhood post Sandy, with a full summer program.”
