By on December 12, 2012

Albany, NY’s After The Fall will release its fourth studio record, Unkind, this spring via Paper + Plastick Records. The punk/hardcore four-piece will follow up its attention-grabbing Eradication LP, which came out in 2010, with a gnarly combination of 12 new gritty, driving punk songs. The record is set for a March 19 release date via P+P and it can be preordered in the label’s webstore

The band is currently streaming a new song, “Decade,” via Paper + Plastick Records’ SoundCloud page. The song can be embedded on your website to share with your readers. The cover art and tracklisting for Unkind can be found below.

As “Decade” goes to show, After The Fall has a knack for riff-infused punk rock, with double-time drum beats that make comparisons to Propagandhi and Title Fight easy ones to make. Lyrically, vocalist Mike Moak sings about his band’s first 10 years together and the experiences they’ve had: “I’ll never forget, a decade that came and went / Making noise with my best friends / I’d do it all over again / But I have been broke for so long / Going from job to job and living week to week / Ignoring my health and bank account being empty / I’m not feeling worthless and not feeling weak / And I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”

“Decade” also features a ripping guitar solo, and while Moak and Tyler Paige’s guitars take the spotlight on this track, Will Savage’s bass work and Chris Millington’s presence behind the kit are crucial parts of After The Fall’s complete sound.

“This album was recorded as a four-piece,” Moak says, “which gave everything a little more depth. We’ve been a three-piece for the last four years but Will and Tyler rejoining the band have helped us flesh things out and get their influence in on this album and the songwriting.”

After The Fall recorded Unkind in Albany with Tim Lynch and it was mixed/mastered by The Descendents’ Stephen Egerton.

More about After The Fall:
Albany, NY’s After The Fall will be expanding upon a decade-long career of punk rock with the release of its fourth studio full-length record, Unkind, on March 19, 2013 via Paper + Plastick Records.

The band – consisting of vocalist / guitarist Mike Moak, guitarist Tyler Paige, bassist / vocalist Will Savage, and drummer Chris Millington – recorded Unkind in its hometown with producer Tim Lynch. The record was mixed and mastered by The Descendents’ Stephen Egerton.

Serving as the follow-up to the Eradication LP, After The Fall’s newest release showcases a sound with more depth than the band has ever had before. With two other full-lengths under the band’s belt (2005’s Everything and 2009’s Fort Orange), the group has honed and perfected its craft and Unkind proves to be its most impressive work.

“This album was recorded as a four-piece,” Moak says, “which gave everything a little more depth. We’ve been a three-piece for the last four years but Will and Tyler rejoining the band have helped us flesh things out and get their influence in on this album and the songwriting.”

Between impressive guitar work on songs like “Decade,” the album’s closer, and Millington’s consistently relentless drumming presence, Unkind is a thrill ride through 12 tracks that never take a break in intensity.
