Finnish Horror/Metal act Snow White’s Poison Bite have signed with powerhouse Victory Records and are set to release their forthcoming LP Featuring: Dr. Gruesome And The Gruesome Gory Horror Show (insert corny album title joke here): the band’s first release under the label’s banner. Secular elements of the album stay in close contact to the band’s Horror take on Metal—conceptually more effective in tracks like “Halloween Means Death” and “Zombie Romance” the former with creepy undertones, and a speedy rhythm; the latter with an interesting transition from a softer ballad intro to a more grandiose Horror infused Metal. At times, the “haunted house” theme can get a bit too over the top—the album’s sixth track “Count Dracula Kid!” being a notable example.

I actually find the band, sonically at their best, in segments of the album that go light on the Horror theme: “There’s A New Creep On The Block” focuses less on the musical horror show—more so on a raunchy riff and a solid mix of rapping & Death vocals. “Dr. Gruesome” is another diverse example with a more progressive Hardcore composition: thematically stripped down and a definite mosher to be. The album hits an apex with the song “Lurking Inside of You” (a personal favorite)—unique, darker toned vocals and a catchy, emotional chorus make this a standout track. The album is sure to please Horror fans, but is also a good mix of more rhythmic rock that fans of bands like Get Scared will likely enjoy. You can pre-order your copy today; check out the audio video for the album’s (sort of) title track below.
