Tomorrow marks the official kickoff of OCTOURBER 2012, a four-band trek along the East Coast featuring Anchors(Melbourne, Australia), The Stereo State (Holyoke, MA), Antillectual(Nijmegen, Holland) and After The Fall (Albany, NY). It’s a virtual who’s who of punk rock talent from around the globe which will find these road-tested outfits playing shows throughout Canada, New England, the Mid-Atlantic states and the Southeast on their way to Fest 11 in Gainesville, FL.
Three of the four bands are touring in support of brand-new albums. Anchors‘ sophomore full-length, Lost At The Bottom Of The World, was released on October 2nd on 12″ vinyl, CD and digital formats via Creator-Destructor Records (Heartsounds, Seahaven, Troubled Coast) and features 12 brand new tracks of blazing, technical and mesmerizing modern punk rock. Listen to the album’s first single “High And Low.”
Label mates The Stereo State is also prepping for a Creator-Destructor-released EP next week (10/23) titled Crossing Canyons. Produced and engineered by Jay Mass (No Trigger, Defeater, Transit), The 10″ / CD boasts six brand new tracks of the melodic and heartfelt punk goodness that fans of the Massachusetts outfit have come to know and love. Stream the single “American Bones” at Alternative Press.
Both Anchors and The Stereo State will have copies of the new records at shows, or you can pick them up from the label here.
Battle-tested veterans Antillectual also has its own shiny new offering: a four-song EP titled Future History. Released on September 28th, the album is available digitallyor on orange 7-inch vinyl. Future History was recorded by Nico van Montfort and released throughout Europe and Russia by Destiny Records, Shield Recordings, No Reason Records, Lockjaw Records and Angry Chuck Records. Three of the tracks are brand new while the fourth is a remake of an oldie from the band’s 2005 debut full-length, Silencing Civilization.
In related news, Antillectual will continue its journey on the road after Fest 11 with a 10-day tour of Brazil. Hardly a surprise for an outfit that in six years has played over 700 shows around the world. Details can be found below.
Batting cleanup in this impressive lineup, After The Fallrecently finished recording Unkind. Mixed and mastered by the Descendents’ Stephen Egerton, the full-length is the follow-up to the acclaimed 2010 LP, Eradication. More details about the new record are forthcoming. Earlier this year the Albany three piece contributed three songs (including a Descendents cover) to a Split 7″with Caleb Lionheart on Better Days Records.
As always, if you’d like to attend a show or speak with any of the bands, drop me a line here. I’m also currently working the new releases for both Anchors and The Stereo State; if you’d like to hear either of those records, just say the word!
