And We Danced

Paper + Plastick Records is excited to announce today the signing of Minneapolis rock act And We Danced. The group will release its debut EP, a seven-song effort titled Back To The Middle, via the label in digital and vinyl formats on July 1.

You can now stream the first-released song from Back To The Middle, the insanely catchy “Goodnight Toronto,” right here.  Back To The Middle is also available for preorder in digital ($5) and vinyl ($12) formats.

And We Danced is fronted by vocalist/guitarist Zaq Zrust, the former frontman of early-2000s Fueled By Ramen emo act Cadillac Blindside. The band’s guitarist and other primary songwriter, Jeremy Tappero, has played in The Stereo, The Jealous Sound and The Gloria Record. The quartet is rounded out by bassist/backing vocalist Sean Hancock and drummer Nick Larsen.

Together the act puts a new spin on emo/punk. They truly combine those two genres, with slower-tempo song like the title track and “Little Streetlight” offering an indie sensibility as well. All throughout, Zrust’s high-flying vocalist and the band’s powerful, driving, gritty rock backbone provide the constants.

Speaking about working with Paper + Plastick and re-connecting with label owner Vinnie Fiorello (who founded Fueled By Ramen Records in Gainesville years ago), Zrust offered the following: “At the end of the day, both Tap and I have worked with Vinnie before as he and Fueled By Ramen did releases for Cadillac Blindside, Animal Chin and The Stereo, and we knew P+P was the place for us. It’s rare that you can have working relationships with people in this business that span over 15 years off and on, and Vinnie has always proved to put out records for the love of the music and little more, which is exactly why we’re still doing this.”
