Lana Grant, the Newfoundland born, Nova Scotia raised, singer/songwriter is ready to launch her fourth CD entitled Non-Fiction. This much-anticipated contemporary pop offering is a project Lana is very proud of. Non-Fiction is a collection of songs based on real situations, drawn from Lana’s own life journey as well as inspiring and touching stories from fans and friends she has turned into beautiful music. One fan wrote to Lana about her battle with breast cancer, and from that painful, yet powerful journey the song Time was born. Another song, called Dash, was written as a tribute to a Halifax Police Special Constable, who passed away in a tragic car accident in 2008. Look for the official Non-Fiction release and support tour in spring/summer 2011.
Lana has been crafting her professional music career as a singer/songwriter since 1995. During that time Lana released three CD’s, Lana Grant – self titled (1996), Tired of Talkin’ (1999) and Hovering Above (2004). Tired of Talkin’, saw the national release of two singles, Pieces and Tired of Talkin’. Pieces turned out to be a highly successful chart topper that brought Lana a large amount of publicity.
Lana’s music career has seen numerous musical accomplishments. A few highlights include; ECMA showcases (1997 & 2000), nomination for Female Artist of the Year (Music Industry of NS – 2000), live performances (i.e. opening for Blue Rodeo, festivals, venues), a showcase at Canadian Music Week (Toronto – 2000), plus media recognition and performances (TV, Radio and Print). In 2003, Lana was the featured artist in an hour long Eastlink TV special highlighting her music, performance and conversations about her career. Check out the Eastlink video highlights of Lana’s live performance on the home page!
After taking a break from music, Lana is now back with an even stronger desire to write, perform, inspire, connect with others and create positive changes and awareness through her music and writing.

Quotes

“Had a chance to play the CD on our trip home. It is awesome. We ALL enjoyed it and our group ranged in age from 10-57!! Can’t wait to hear more about you in the states.”

“One of the best tracks on this album is “Aftermath,” a duet with Dave Carroll, telling a story of tension between a husband and a wife whose love has run dry. “There’s only a few feet between us/why does it seem like miles/it didn’t used to.” There’s a wonderful atmosphere to this song, and Lana and Dave have great chemistry. Easily a radio hit, “Aftermath” oozes style, good songwriting, and a touching sentiment. This is the best track on the album.”

Music writer/publisher Bobby Jo Valentine from California, USA – Related to Lana’s new CD Non Fiction

“Grant then takes a beautiful, sentimental turn in “My Journey.” “Like the rings inside a fresh-cut tree/the lines mark the moments in my journey.” Beautiful songwriting, an absolutely show-stopping guitar solo in the middle, and a great piano track compliment the raw lyrics and vocals that will make this track a fan favorite.”

Music Writer/Publisher Bobby Jo Valentine from California, USA – Related to Lana’s new CD Non Fiction.

“It has been 15 years since Canadian Lana Grant launched her self-titled debut album. This year’s release of Non Fiction marks her fourth studio effort with a desire to truly inspire and connect with her fans through real life musical stories. Grant’s vocals are remarkable throughout the album with her strong, sassy, personal delivery.”
