Armchair Committee release Secret Chord Records debut single ‘Sick/Bay’

By on March 16, 2014

Armchair CommitteeAfter the self-release of their 2012 EP ‘Imola‘ (recorded with Band of Skulls/Duke Spirit producer Ian Davenport), Armchair Committee return with their first single on Secret Chord Records. ‘Sick/Bay’ will be released on April 21st 2014 on limited, numbered 7″ vinyl. The new single will be backed by live favourite ‘John the Revelator’ – a re-working of the traditional blues standard – as the b-side. Both tracks were recorded with long-time collaborator and producer Brendan Davies at Coach House Studios, Bristol. The studio itself carries a hefty heritage, having had both Portishead and Massive Attack track some of their most seminal material within its walls. To support the release of Sick/Bay the band will embark on a full UK tour in April/May with a number of Summer Festival performances already confirmed. The band formed in mid-2011 and quickly established themselves with self-released demos and a flurry of local shows and UK tours that saw them share stages with artists such as Royal Blood, Jim Jones Revue, Young Guns, Tubelord, Gauntlet Hair, Crazy Arm, Marcus Bonfanti & Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun.

Often labelled as ‘swamp rock’, the band grab the aggression and experimentalism from contemporary guitar music and drag it back to the era of delta. The result is a dynamic blend of punk rock energy and skewed melodic blues.

The pre-order / buy link for the vinyl single is also here –

“…Lobbing out a series of loud and raw rock bombs that show hints of the Foo’s rampant melodicism and Jack White’s howling blues…magnificent – KKKKK” – Kerrang! Magazine “…mightily, impressively noisy…”- This is DIY “…thriving on a creative diet of riffs and noise which spawn a sound that clatters from blues to stoner rock in monster fashion” – Huffington Post | | | @armcomband | | | @TopSecretChord
