Artistree Festival brings diverse music and arts to Norfolk.

By on October 7, 2014

Artistree Festival, formerly Localpalooza, will take place in downtown Norfolk, showcasing artists and musicians from October 23 to October 25, 2014.

This event features more than one hundred Local, National, and Regional bands that will perform at venues such as The Norva, The Plot, The Granby Theater, FM Restaurant, The Parlor on Granby, The Naro and many more.

“We want to give back to the community that has provided us with so much,” said Artistree Festival organizer Rob Devinney. “This year, we’ve even added film screenings and educational panels to enhance the overall experience.”

The panels will cover industry-related topics such as record label dealings and music education. Dave Ravikoff of Warner Brother Records, Bill Reid of The Norva and Nick Chappell of 96X will all be taking part in the panels this year.

For the last five years, Artistree Festival has included a variety of musical genres for the people to enjoy. The recent lineup consists of talent like Biz Markie, Darkest Hour, Bria Kelly, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Left Wing Fascists, members of Wu Tang Clan, Brothertiger and Ki Theory.

Not only does Artistree Festival strive to bring communities together, it also seeks to provide relief to local non-profits. Over the years, Artistree Festival has positively impacted economic growth and supported charities like Operation Smile, 4Kids and Virginia Beach SPCA.

This year, the festival is working with Music 4 More to raise funds, collect instrument donations and recycle them into struggling school and community music programs. Chesterfield Elementary, Blair Middle School, and Granby High School will receive direct aid from this year’s donations.
