Hailing from what is quickly becoming the indie-pop capital of the world, Brisbane, Australia, Cub Scouts have moved on from taking the hearts and minds of Australian music lovers and set their sights on the USA.

Moving quickly from #68 to #29 and today, #16 in the CMJ Charts, it follows an extremely successful year for the band, who in 2012 won the Queensland Music Award for Best Pop Song and Song Of The Year.

The Told You So EP followed closely after, with the title track gaining attention and garnering praise for its retro-laden video clip, bouncing bassline and ethereal vocals. ‘Told You So’ also showed that the band won’t be a flashpoint in the varied landscape of Australian music, being placed on high rotation on Australia’s premier youth network, triple j, where it was a constant over the summer break period.

2012 also saw the band secure a spot on the bill for the annual Falls Festival, performing alongside Two Door Cinema Club, Beach House, The Hives, Django Django, and many more. The band also showcased at Australia’s prestigious international music conference BIGSOUND to high praise.

After achieving this mammoth 2012 without any label backing or management, and with the band investigating options for overseas dates, 2013 is shaping up to be the Year of the Cub Scouts.
