Away from triple j duties, Nina’s interests are diverse from curating the soundtrack to Sydney’s world-famous New Year’s Eve fireworks display (broadcast to millions around the world), to releasing music in her own right.
Her most recent releases, “Flash Auto” and “Don’t Send”, created in collaboration with Melbourne producer Swick, were released via Skrillex’s Nest HQ late last year, and enjoying premieres via Mixmag and Thump.
Yesterday, she revealed “January on Repeat Mixtape” which she describes as “A mix of some of my favourite songs that I found, got sent, bought and stole throughout January. I could have put more in, but had to stop 75 mins!”
In 2012 Nina released the first in a series of compilations for triple j. House Party Volume 1 topped the ARIA Compilations Chart and hit Gold Sales in Australia. Volume 2 peaked at #1 on the iTunes Main Chart and iTunes Dance Chart. The House Party tours she curated in support of the compilations were massive successes, and were the first to showcase the likes of Flume, Cassian and Wave Racer on a significant national level.
Always committed to showcasing the best talents, her NLV Presents parties introduced the likes of Eclair Fifi, UNiiQU3 and Sam Tiba to Australian audiences, as well as showcasing the likes of burgeoning Australian talents such as Tkay Maidza and Motez.
Nina’s interests have also extended to co-founding Heaps Decent (with Diplo and Australian DJ Levins), a non-profit organisation seeking to bring contemporary music education and inspiration to underprivileged communities around Australia.
As a touring DJ, Nina has spun relentlessly around best clubs and festivals in Australia, including Splendour in the Grass, Groovin’ the Moo, Big Day Out, Stereosonic and Parklife as well as appearing as special guest on shows for Pharrell Williams, Baauer and MIA. Just this week she DJed for 25,000 people in Sydney’s Domain as part of triple j’s Beat The Drum 40th anniversary concert. Internationally she joined 2014’s Hard Day of the Dead, and December’s Mad Decent Boat Party.
This March Nina comes to the US for her first ever tour, taking in SXSW, WMC and a slew of dates around the country.
