BalconyTV, an online video channel of musicians performing on balconies around the world, announces its new televised series, BalconyTV – Music Sessions, which will air Monday evenings from 6 – 6:30pm GMT on London’s new 24-hour entertainment cable network, London Live.

BalconyTV, owned by The Orchard, a music and film distributor and Multi-Channel Network, is a unique music discovery network that showcases up-and-coming artists in an intimate balcony setting long before they reach a mainstream audience. The sessions are filmed in 50 cities worldwide by local presenters and producers. Over the course of an eight year period, BalconyTV has compiled a catalogue of over 10,000 exclusive performances.

“We are particularly excited to add BalconyTV to our range of cable programs because of its authentic, DIY quality,” says Lorna Cole, Commissioning Editor for London Live. “We have massive amounts of raw, creative energy buzzing in the London music scene, but it’s too often overlooked. BalconyTV changes that ethos by combining underground efforts with mainstream to promote the city’s talent, perfectly aligned with our plans for the channel as a whole.”

Starting Monday, May 19th, BalconyTV will take its online viewing experience to the TV screen. The eight-part series will air weekly on London Live, the city’s newest television channel, which aims to promote London’s creative and flourishing urban life. To add to the appeal of BalconyTV – Music Sessions, the shows take place on a Central Hall Westminster balcony, overlooking iconic sites like Big Ben, The Eye and Westminster Abbey.

Musical performances to look forward to include a wide range of acts, from Singer-Songwriter Janet Devlin to a stripped-down Ben Kenney of Incubus as well as Hip-Hop artists Akira the Don and Big Narstie.

“After building our online audience for eight years, It’s amazing that BalconyTV is actually going to be on TV,” says Stephen O’Regan, BTV Founder. “London Live is a great and fresh platform for the BalconyTV London team to showcase its talent to a wider audience.”
