Balthazar announce new single ‘Leipzig’ new video and tour dates

By on February 1, 2014

With the 2012 release of ‘Rats’, Balthazar made some impressive friends on UK shores. Artrocker suggested the album should be ‘their big break into Britain’, whilst Q declared that they had created an album ‘to delight lovers of the dark and intense’. The band played 123 European shows across 2013, including two sold out special nights in London and a huge jaunt across the continent with labelmates Editors, clips from which can be seen in the video for ‘Leipzig’ HERE

In the course of all that travelling the band found time to create a new track, ‘Leipzig’, which will land in March and serve as a taster for their forthcoming album, currently in production. ‘Leipzig’ saw mixer Ben Hillier (Blur, Elbow) at the controls, his first time working with the band. Fans of ‘Rats’ will notice their usual ability to pack a melodic punch whilst keeping it cool whilst the whole song bounces along with a spontaneity that has much to do with how it was written and recorded, as Jinte explains: “The track was written during our latest euro tour, in Leipzig, recorded on the bus, quickly and to the point,” Jinte Deprez explains .  “After only making full albums, making a single song was a whole different experience. Let it be an interlude between Rats and the next album. Here’s to 2014!”
