Bastions: Bedfellows Part 1: The Bastard Son Review

Release Date: February 18th
Holy Roar Records

UK Hardcore outfit Bastions are set to release the first of a two part EP entitled Bedfellows [Part 1: The Bastard Son is the subject of this review]. The EP kicks off with “Pallor” a softer interlude that explodes into a chaotic dose of Hardcore. The band speeds it up in the EP’s 2nd track “With Love” where a short & sweet thrashing rhythm drives an absolutely brutal vocal outburst. “Life Less Lived” gets a bit more aggressive with speedy technical guitar work and a display of the EP’s most violent bone-chilling screams. Part 1 of the EP comes to a close with its most unique track “Amongst Crows” a slower more bass-heavy performance of distorted Hardcore at its best. Part 1 is an impressive & quick onslaught that is sure to leave Hardcore fans eagerly awaiting the release of Part 2. The Bastard Son drops February 18th on Holy Roar Records; you can preorder your copy today.
