Beware Of Darkness Announce North American Tour Dates; Debut Album Orthodox Out Now On Bright Antenna Records

By on August 7, 2013

Los Angeles-based indie rock band Beware of Darkness are excited to get back on the road for an extensive summer and fall which begins this week. The tour includes shows on this year’s UPROAR Festival, several headlining dates and performances at the UK’s Leeds and Redding Music Festivals. The upcoming tour comes hot on the heels of Beware of Darkness’ successful European tour where they played shows as main support for The Smashing Pumpkins and the band’s two-week run on the Van’s Warped Tour. Beware Of Darkness’ frontman Kyle Nicolaides has been chronicling their European tour for Alternative Press. Check out the band’s photo diary here.

Beware Of Darkness is touring in support of their debut album titled Orthodox out now on Bright Antenna Records, the long-awaited album follows the band’s well-received Howl EP. Orthodox is a body of work heavily clouded with imagery and inspiration drawn from literary figures such as Sylvia Plath, Emily Dickinson, and David Foster Wallace. Throughout Orthodox, chief songwriter and frontman Kyle Nicolaides delivers scathing lyrical content in a snarling howl. Powered by the album’s lead single, “Howl,” a song that has just cracked the top 5 at Rock radio, Orthodox is incredibly potent and precise, a collection of songs whose lyrics are meant to evoke reactions.

Recorded at the Sound Factory and Valley Recorder in Hollywood, CA, executive produced and mixed by Dave Sardy (Oasis, LCD Soundsystem, Nine Inch Nails), and produced by Greg Gordon and frontman Kyle Nicolaides, Orthodox proves itself to be a sensuous experience – aimed somewhere between the gut and dirty dive bar – but death, and its implications for the living, is wrestled with on nearly each of the album’s twelve blistering tracks. Anticipation for the album has been building since the band released their beloved Howl EP last year that earned instant acclaim and launched the single “Howl.”

2013 is continuing to be a busy year for the members of Beware of Darkness – Kyle Nicolaides (vocals, guitar), Daniel Curcio (bass) and Tony Cupito (drums) – with “Howl” continuing to climb the rock radio charts along with North American and UK tour dates. Having already shared the stage with the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Social Distortion, Deftones, Silversun Pickups, Tegan and Sara, Metric, AWOLNATION, Hollywood Undead, The Wombats, Middle Class Rut and others, the band will add more names to the list with performances on UPROAR and a string of UK festivals this fall.
