Blue Sky Riders are excited to join the famed SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX this March with seven spectacular events scheduled. On March, 13, 2013 at 12:30 PM the band will be speaking at the SXSW “Indie At Any Age” Panel along with the band’s 3Dream Record Label team (Holly Adams and Julie Yannatta) and manager Mandi Davis (Moir Borman Entertainment.)
The panel will be moderated by Adams and will focus on what happens when a multi-platinum, Grammy winning artist with a 4-decade career and two highly successful Nashville songwriters decide to form a band and put out their record independently. Attendees will learn from Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr about how they formed Blue Sky Riders and built their own label, secured distribution and released and marketed their debut album, Finally Home, without major label support.
Later on March 13th, Blue Sky Riders will perform an Official SXSW Showcase at St. David’s Historic Sanctuary at 9PM. On March 14th at 1PM, Blue Sky Riders will treat fans to an intimate acoustic set on The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (which will be parked at Aussie’s Grill & Beach Bar). March 15th there will be two performances with the first at 3:30PM for the Whole Foods/Amazon/Quantum Collective Series on the Rooftop Plaza at Whole Foods. The second performance will be at 11:15 PM for the SXSW Grammy Museum Beatles Tribute at St. David’s Historic Sanctuary.
Blue Sky Riders will next perform on Saturday, March 16th at 3PM on the main stage of Rachel Ray’s party at Stubb’s and will finish their SXSW run at Rebels Honky Tonk that evening (time TBA).
Blue Sky Riders released their debut album Finally Home on January 29 and have received rave reviews from The NY Times, USA Today, The Huffington Post, Billboard and Popdose, amongst many others. A veritable who’s who of music royalty, the group counts the iconic Kenny Loggins, Nashville songwriter Georgia Middleman (who has penned songs for Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire and many others) and award-winning songwriter Gary Burr (Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame, written 14 #1 hits and has penned songs for Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and played and written with Ringo Starr and Carole King) within its ranks.
Finally Home follows up the 2011 fan favorite EP, Live At The Rutledge, which introduced the world to their exceptional collaborative songwriting and unique sound. Driven by three-part harmonies and sincere, soulful delivery, each of these veterans sings lead as well, separating Blue Sky Riders from not only anything the individual members have done in their respective careers, but anything else out there. Over the course of the record, the trio merges rock, pop, and country into an irresistible collection of 15 songs. Finally Home is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.com and the Live At The Rutledge EP is also available digitally.
