Singer/songwriter Brian Byrne (I Mother Earth) has announced the release of his new single “Arizona (I Miss You Most)” available for download on iTunes today, March 3, 2014 via Dine Alone Records. All proceeds from downloads will go directly to support Collateral Damage, a Canadian suicide prevention and awareness group founded by Scott Chisholm, who – as a 17 year old boy – lost his father to suicide.  The video, featuring Canadians who’ve lost loved ones to suicide, has also been released.  Watch and share the video at this link:

Brian Byrne and his wife Tara co-founded the OCDC – The Old Classy Dogs Collective – as a way to use music for social change. “Last year after we lost another friend, I couldn’t just stand by anymore,” says Byrne.  “My hope is that we really can change how we talk about suicide, open up and discuss.  No one should ever feel ashamed or lonely in this. Its all hard enough”.   The OCDC form a growing alliance of talented entertainers and television personalities such as Sam Roberts, Shawn Majumder, George Stroumboulopoulos, and Matt Mays, all of who have adopted the Collective’s motto “will work for change”.  Continues Byrne, “Every time someone downloads “Arizona (I Miss You Most)”, money is raised.  Every time the song plays on the radio or video is seen, the message is heard.”

Scott Chisholm adds, “The Arizona Project is about sharing stories, starting conversations and healing from our loss to suicide. The Project also reaches out in an artistic and meaningful way to others who are struggling with thoughts of suicide by showing them it’s okay to reach out.  But also, by being part of a collective ‘story’, we break the stigma.  It is artists using their gifts to create an opportunity for healing by demonstrating to others that they are not alone”.

“Arizona (I Miss You Most”)” will immediately be added to the playlist of influential Canadian radio stations including LiVE 88-5/Ottawa, Shore 104/Vancouver, C103/Moncton, Q104/Halifax, and Radio 96-5/Halifax. In addition, Newcap Radio has created a public service awareness campaign to make sure that the message of “Arizona” reaches millions of people.  The song will be actively promoted to Canadian radio stations, with the goal of reaching as many listeners as possible.

Suicide takes the lives of more Canadian men than prostate cancer and is the second leading cause of death among young people.  For more information on “The Arizona Project”, please visit:

About the Collateral Damage Project

Founded by Scott Chisholm, the Collateral Damage Project works to prevent suicide by stomping stigma, creating proactive dialogue and pushing for gatekeeper training. With open communication at its heart, the project will include a touring gallery exhibition and book (both depicting portraits of those “left behind” by a loved one’s suicide),  a number of annual fundraising events and local, national and international speaking appearances by Chisholm and members of the advisory team, some of Canada’s most respected and recognized musicians, athletes and doctors. In 2012, the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health honoured Chisholm with a prestigious Champions of Mental Health Award. For more information, visit
