A Cypher is the key to a secret method of writing. The code that unlocks a secret world – it seems that Brisbane 16 year old Faith Ty, also known as Cypher, has unlocked that world of music. For someone so young, it seems as though through a world of her own making, she has created a wealth of opportunities for herself and her fragile, beautifully crafted music.

Now Cypher has a brand new track called Light and Sound. It was recorded and produced in HK Studios by Nick Kirk and Danny Harley from Pigeon and The Kite String Tangle. It is a touching track with a haunting vocal – the track builds and swells throughout, a pulsing bass line keeps it moving. It hits a crescendo and returns to a fragile vocal to end. Faith’s vocal is the through line that melds the track together and takes the listener on an ethereal journey.

Not one to rest on her laurels, the Cypher has other exciting experiences on the boil – on June 23, she will be the focus of ABC3’s MY:24 TV episode – a 1/2 hour long look into her life in Brisbane as a teenager and also as a creator and songwriter. MY:24 is a 13-part series featuring twenty-six young people chronicling the impact of a life-changing experience within a 24 hour period – expressed in their own words and using their own images.

On top of that, Cypher is taking to the stage at the Brisbane Powerhouse Sunday August 3rd for a celebratory launch show for the song Light and Sound. She takes the stage at 3pm on the Turbine Platform – it is All Ages and Free Entry.

Cypher was one of the six finalists out of 900+ entries on 2013’s Triple J’s Unearthed High with her single ‘Liar’. ‘Liar’ was a product of her creative endeavours and was created entirely on her iPad. ‘Light & Sound’ was premiered on Triple J Unearthed with Rosie Beaton. Within 5 hours of the release, the track was then played on Triple J’s Home and Hosed with Dom Alessio.

Her previous track Liar received across the board minimum 4/5 stars from almost the entire triple j office on her unearthed profile with presenters praising the emotion and passion in her music, as well as likening her music to the sounds of London Grammar.

Light and Sound is available on iTunes and Triple J Unearthed now
