Chance Waters

The multi-talented Chance Waters refuses to be pigeon-holed into one genre. Pop, folk, hip hop are all in his wheelhouse. He’s a songwriter who happens to rap, but he prefers avoiding any designations or trappings. “Bonnie,” Waters’ collaboration with Sydney indie-poppers The Griswolds, blurs lines with pop hooks, harmonies, swathes of live instrumentation and world class production from Adelaide producer One Above (Hilltop Hoods). You can hear elements of Lily Allen crossed with Macklemore, crossed with the jubilation of such modern pop upstarts as Capital Cities. If there’s a simple mission statement from the militantly vegan Waters it’s to have a good time, all the time. While he may be very invested in his vegan politics, Waters is willing to share the dancefloor with whomever, and an all-are-welcome credo shines through on “Bonnie.”

The second single from Waters’ upcoming LP on Island Records, “Bonnie” is a celebration of life, and a reflection of the joy and artistic growth Waters has experienced in a short amount of time. After years of work under another moniker, 2012 was Waters’ year, The first single from Waters’ second albumInfinity, “Maybe Tomorrow” took off.  The sugary apocalypse tune demonstrated Chance’s deft touch for the bitter sweet and the joyful, flying immediately to #9 on the Most Added National Radio chart. To cap off an incredible year Chance took not one, but two spots in the Hottest 100 2012, for ‘Young & Dumb’ (#45) and ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ (#89). Striking while the iron is hot and with his new studio album well and truly underway, Chance has announced an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Australia, as well as a partnership for his label, ‘I Forget, Sorry!’ with Island Records Australia and is excited to continue the journey from where INFINITY left off. “Quite simply, these are the best songs I’ve written,” says Waters. “I can’t wait to share them with the world.”

Check out “Bonnie” now via SoundCloud before Waters drops his TBD third album.
