Christopher Owens has announced the release of the second single ‘Here We Go Again’ from his acclaimed album Lysandre on 11th March. Tickets are also on sale for his UK and European tour in February and March, with a London headline show on 29th May.
Lysandre – written, recorded and sequenced as a complete narrative – was inspired by the events of Girls’ first ever tour in the summer of 2008. Described by Owens as, “A coming of age story, a road trip story, a love story”, the album was released last week on Turnstile.
The album and new single ‘Here We Go Again’, which according to The Observer ‘captures the endless forward propulsion of the touring band’, can be streamed from the New York Times website here – http://bit.ly/CO-NYTimes.
Written almost entirely in one creative outpouring and recorded with former Girls producer Doug Boehm, Lysandre follows Owens from San Francisco to New York City and on to the French Riviera before a melancholy return home and a beautifully articulated epilogue. Perfectly framed by intricate instrumentation, gorgeous backing vocals and pristine production, Owens’ enthralling, personal songwriting takes center stage and delivers a heartbreaking rumination on love, longing, friendship, adventure and the thrill of finding an audience for your art.
The tour dates starting next month follow two sold out debut headline shows in London in December at St Giles Church, where the former Girls frontman premiered Lysandre from start to finish and performed with the full band from Lysandre’s studio recordings.
