After a year of guest appearances on tour with The Pimps of Joytime, including the recent Jam Cruise, Brooklyn’s highly fashionable songwriter, composer, producer and artist extraordinaire Cole Williams announced today her official position in the band. Now the newest singer and percussionist, Cole joins Mayteana Morales as the band’s two leading women. Cole is featured on The Pimps of Joytime’s upcoming studio album, releasing later this year on Wonderwheel Recordings/ESL.

Cole Williams also announced today the release of her new single, “88,” recorded live with her band ThatsMyCole at Sweet Sounds Studio in SoHo, and mixed and mastered by the Pimps’ Brian J at Janxta Studio. “I wrote ‘88’ drunk on a 40 ounce at 6pm, crying over some dude I was seeing who wasn’t treating me right,” says Cole honestly. “At that point I could only communicate in numbers.” The lyrics, melody and rhythm are Cole Williams to a T — so crazy that it’s sane. “88” is now available on both BandCamp and iTunes.

Tonight, Cole Williams and her band ThatsMyCole will open for SLV, the solo project of singer-songwriter and Pistolera front woman Sandra Lilia Velasquez, at Joe’s Pub in New York City. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance (http://bit.ly/11FTool/). After tonight’s show, Cole will embark on a month-long tour with The Pimps of Joytime, returning home to NYC on March 15th to perform at Blue Note with her band.

In 2012 Cole Williams offered powerful female vocals to Chiddy Bang’s single “Ray Charles,” which she performed live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. She was also the inspiration for a sparkling cocktail, the “Cole Fizz,” featured in Men’s Journal (http://mjm.ag/11zC8WG/). On top of that, Cole released a limited-edition double EP, Out of the Basement, Out of the Box, showcasing her pop and R&B roots.
