In a music climate dominated by tumblr, image-oriented bands, and file sharing, Ivadell are kicking it old school. From DIY tours to cassette tape releases, the Columbia, South Carolina post-hardcore outfit is putting the music first – and it shows. Ivadell are currently gearing up for the release of a new EP called Flow. Drawing on influences ranging from Quicksand to Failure, Flow is a short-but-sweet collection of dynamic, well-crafted songs. At its heavy points, with massive guitars sludging along underneath layers of haunting, falsetto vocals, there’s a subtle hint of early Deftones. The band’s uniqueness is derived from their commanding control of atmosphere, allowing the music to flow freely. The result is huge swells and emotionally charged lows. If Flow is to serve as indication of their abilities, Ivadell has a very bright future ahead of them. True to their hardworking nature, the band will head right back into the studio to track a full-length record for release in mid 2015.
