edIT Celebrates 10-year Anniversary Of “Crying Over Pros”

With Deluxe LP Release

 Featuring Five New Bonus Tracks

From humble beginnings on the Los Angeles underground to world tours of sold-out arenas, Edward Ma has seen it all in a career that now spans more than 15 years. Starting off as The Con Artist in the late 1990s, Ma produced for rappers such as Busdriver, P.E.A.C.E and Sole while holding a residency at Konkrete Jungle, where drum n bass and hip hop were spun side by side to hungry ears. In 2003, Ma reshaped himself as edIT.

The next year he debuted with Crying Over Pros For No Reason on seminal UK label Planet Mu. The album melded together Ma’s love of hip hop, drum n bass and experimental electronic music, a fusion that would presage hip hop’s return to its electronic roots by the end of the decade. Crying Over Pros… sounded like nothing else at the time. It sounded like the future and it would put Ma on the path of his next evolution. In 2006 he co-founded The Glitch Mob, a project that would ultimately take over his solo work by 2010. Today the Mob inhabit a unique position in the dance music world, the roots of which go back to the sonic experiments of Crying Over Pros… Ten years on, the album is being reissued on limited edition vinyl and as a digital bundle with an extra five tracks from the original sessions. Its emotive power hasn’t faded one bit and its relevance has only increased as the future it hinted at became the present we now live in.

“10 years is an eon in the world of electronic music, where today’s hit can be old news by tomorrow. So it brings a smile to my face when I still receive messages about Crying Over Pros For No Reason. Your first record is always special, because it’s a snapshot of a moment in time that is free of expectation and outside perceptions. It is arguably the purest and rawest expression of who you are as an artist. This album first came out 10 years ago long before the age of social media. To me, it was just pure vibes and feels. And I’m glad you felt them too. Relive it all over again with five bonus songs written in that era and a beautiful colored double vinyl with all of the songs on the album. Thanks for coming along for the ride.” ~ edIT

The 10-year anniversary deluxe edition of edIT’s Crying Over Pros For No Reason includes 5 new original bonus tracks and is available digitally and on limited-edition double-pack splatter vinyl on Dec 9, 2014 through Glass Air Records.

Release is available through all major online retailers with vinyl orders through  edITbeats.com.
