International Hip Hop Star, Renowned Peace Activist and now permanent Canadian resident Emmanuel Jal

Emmanuel Jal has just released the video for “Cush” (Produced by Roachie AKA Clinton Outten), the third single off of his latest album See Me Mama. Directed by Daniel Palmer from Grandson and Son and shot in Toronto, the video explores the ancient African kingdom of Cush, which was formed around 10,000 years ago and was one of the earliest and most powerful ancient African Kingdoms.

“The worse things to have happened to Africans is not the colonization of our resources and people or the recent genocides; it is that our history has been stolen and hidden from us,” states Emmanuel Jal. “The reason I chose to sing about Cush was to encourage South Sudan and Africans to reconnect with our history: a history that supports the existing civilization of today. Learning our foundations will help us to find the basic steps to move forward.”
