Empires announce signing to Chop Shop/Island Records, new music & tour news

By on February 4, 2014

Chop Shop / Island Records is thrilled to welcome Chicago, IL rock band EMPIRES to the label.

“What a privilege to sign a band as compelling, original and artistic as Empires to Chop Shop Records,” says owner Alex Patsavas of the first new act signed under the recent partnership between Chop Shop and Universal’s East Coast Label Group. “The band is excellent as both songsmiths and performers, and we look forward to this release (our first in 2014).”

Evident in brand new track “How Good Does It Feel” EMPIRES have emerged with an exciting new collection imbued with a thick-skinned Midwestern charm.

Orphan, the band’s debut LP out later this year was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Black Angels, Explosions in the Sky).

EMPIRES will head out on the road in mid-February introducing songs from the new album. The band will appear at this year’s SXSW, along with numerous summer festivals, and will hit the road with Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s beginning April 25th.

Stay tuned for more news!!
