EOTO will kick off their 20 night winter tour on November 6th in Jacksonville, FL including stops throughout the South and Midwest before embarking on their first mini-Colorado mountain tour in nearly 3 years. A feast for the sense, the dynamic duo is celebrated for their unconventional approach to live EDM, and is the only act of its kind to produce each and every note live before the audience without the use of sample tracks or pre-recorded material.
What began as a sonic experiment between two longtime collaborators has turned into a nationwide phenomenon. As the originators of live and improvised EDM, multi-instrumentalists Michael Travis and Jason Hann stumbled upon an undeniable combination, blending cutting edge computer technology with raw musical talent. While Travis handles on-the-fly looping with keys, guitars, and synths, Hann holds the beat, balancing live drumming duties with vocals, effects, and live remixing . The impressive array of high-end gear makes the EOTO setup look more like the nerve center of a space station, than the staging area of a totally unique musical adventure.
Even with all the high tech toys available, the feat is still difficult to fathom. Jason Hann and Michael Travis walk out on stage without songs, pre-programmed tracks, or any preconceived notion of how the set will unfold. They just dive in.
The band will take their musical journey on the road this winter with dates scheduled in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois, Michigan and California before embarking on a mini tour throughout Colorado leading up to the tour finale scheduled for the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver on December 7th. All advance ticket purchases for their theater performances will also include a live download from the night’s show. EOTO unleashed their annual live tour compilation K-Turns and U-Turns, Vol. 5 in April of 2013. A musical celebration in electronic improvisation, the release features over 300 minutes of uninterrupted party-ready material. Their most industrious live tour compilation yet, the collection spans 4 discs of recorded music, each track digitally mastered to flow into the next to give the feel of a live show setting. Loaded to the brim with deep bass, thumping dance grooves and the kind of digital sci-fi inspiration that keeps EOTO’s music far ahead of its time, the full-length live album features the absolute best performances recorded in 2012.
