Brooklyn’s EULA have shared “Orderly“, the latest ripper from their new single “Orderly” b/w “Meadows”, out July 15 on Bloodmoss Records. The single, available for pre-order now, was recorded by legendary producer Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans). On “Orderly”, EULA’s angular, aggressive sound has reached their grandest scale yet. The merging of Alyse Lamb’s guttural wails with the band’s clashing guitars, deep rumbling bass, and booming backbeat-heavy drums is as chaotic as it is meditative. Bisi’s focus on layers and textures is apparent here as he pulls back Alyse’s haunting vocals just enough for the grimy feedback to have as much of an impact in all the heaviness.
If you’re in New York you won’t want to miss EULA’s upcoming explosive live shows! The band is set to play Northside Festival on June 13th and Trans Pecos in Queens on June 19th. Details below!
PRAISE FOR EULA:
“Lamb, a firebomb of a lead presence, seethes against the song’s deliberate walking tempo: “Years of restraint and order/ Make for bloody water,” she quavers, and you can practically hear her fists ball.” – Pitchfork
“A petite, blonde, bundle of energy, singer/guitarist Alyse Lamb can shriek like Yoko Ono, belt like Screaming Females’ Marisa Paternoster, and sing a pentatonic scale like Deerhoof’s Satomi Matsuzaki in the course of one song.” – Village Voice
“With a feral whoop pitched somewhere between Harvey, Poly Styrene, and a baby Valkyrie with a blood-stained grin, Lamb plays the demonic cheerleader for Maurice Narcisse, one of the most infectious post-punk parties we’ve been invited to in awhile.”
“Their music is packed with the loud, pointed guitar riffs and rapid basslines that would make Northeast pseudo punk proud.” – FensePost
“[Housewolf] starts as your little sister screeching in your ear and gives way to testosterone laden girl punk backed by ‘Peter Gunn Theme’-inspired driving bass.”
– Perfect Porridge
“Totally classic art-school post-punk, takes me back to the salad days of DIY zines when music was fun.” – Left Hip Magazine
06/13 – Brooklyn, NY @ Northside Festival (Black Bear Bar)
06/19 – Queens, NY @ Trans Pecos (915 Wyckoff Ave.)
