Philadelphia’s Ex Friends (featuring Plow United bassist Joel Tannenbaum) is streaming a brand-new song called “Ex Friends” on Punknews.org. The song is the second track taken from the group’s upcoming debut EP, No Wonder We Prefer the Dark, which comes out on Tuesday, September 18.
The new song features a raw-sounding lead guitar to complement Tannenbaum’s gritty vocals. The song is very melodic despite its stripped-down nature, and the dual vocals from bassist Audrey Crash in the chorus provides a second teir to the track. JP Flexner provides the backbone on the drums and Jayme Guokas rounds out the four-piece on guitar.
To pair up with the Punknews.org stream, Ex Friends has also launched a preorder for its new EP via Paper + Plastick Records. No Wonder We Prefer the Dark is available on 7″ vinyl in two variants – black and Hershey’s cookies and cream (seriously it looks just like the candy bar) – and also in digital format.
The first song released from the EP came out last week, titled “The Legend of the Holy Drinker.” It can still be streamed on the Paper + Plastick Records YouTube account.
In addition, Ex Friends will be opening up for Smoking Popes at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia, a show where Smoking Popes will be playing Born To Quit in its entirety. Tickets are available here.
