EP RELEASE SHOW IN LOS ANGELES OCTOBER 13TH
UPCOMING DATES WITH GROUPLOVE
Family of the Year and tinyOGRE Entertainment are proud to announce the release of St. Croix, out today September 27th. The new EP has been met with praise, winning points with Nylon for its “sundrenched melodies” and “irresistible indie folk-pop sound,” and NME for what they describe as “a rich, sweet-toothed tapestry seemingly lined with the DNA of Don MacLean, Ben Folds, Arcade Fire and, more recently Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes.” And as LA Weekly puts it, “The five piece makes a feisty, grimy country ruckus good for backyard parties.
Following upcoming west coast tour dates with Grouplove, Family of the Year will celebrate the EPs release with a hometown show at Bootleg Bar on October 13th. Fans and curious parties may preview the album at Nylon and AOL Spinner where St. Croix is streaming in full. Or they can head over to “On-Airstreaming.com in Austin, TX” to watch the beautiful just unveiled semi-acoustic session for the EP track “Living On Love”
The songs on St. Croix were recorded during Family of the Year’s sessions with accomplished producer Wally Gagel (Eels, Norah Jones, Old 97s) and serve as a precursor to their full-length tinyOGRE Entertainment debut coming out in early 2012. Family of the Year self-released their previous full-length and EP in the United States, where they have cultivated a healthy and steadily growing base of enthusiastic supporters through touring, fan outreach, and word-of-mouth.
Past praise for Family of the Year
Their sprawling debut album, last year’s Songbook, is filled with summery Americana. But the slick, synthy, nocturnal song “Psyche or Like Scope” is a noted exception, and one of the album’s best tunes.” –Spin.com
Full of warm, bright harmonies and surfy rhythms (and handclapped breakdowns).”
