Far East Movement and Cherrytree Records Announce ‘Turn Up The Love’ Tour

By on January 22, 2013

Far East Movement, the record-breaking electro-bounce outfit from California, have announced their ‘Turn Up the Love Club Tour’ in conjunction with pop alternative label Cherrytree Records. The “Cherrytree Records Presents Far East Movement’s Turn Up the Love Club Tour” will launch on February 4th in City, State (see below for complete itinerary).

Far East Movement’s new single “Turn Up The Love” was selected for President Obama’s Inauguration Playlist which can be viewed here: http://spoti.fi/Wi2h5K. Far East Movement performed at two Inauguration events in Washington DC this past weekend. On Saturday they performed at the Kids’ Inaugural for America’s children and families hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden and on Monday they performed at The Commander-in-Chief’s Ball for members of the U.S. military. And they had some time to pose with the President and Mrs. Obama http://instagram.com/p/UxgzsMhHJj/

Far East Movement broke musical and cultural ground by becoming the first ever Asian-American group to top the Billboard charts in the U.S. with their electro-bounce anthem “Like A G6” from their debut album Free Wired which also produced the top 10 smash “Rocketeer.” Their follow-up album Dirty Bass – inspired by the juxtaposition of FM’s LA-inspired electro-bass and the blazing, synth lines of European electro – was released first in Europe where the group recorded and experimented for their second album.

“We found ourselves combining the electro and hip hop bass of our music with the urgency of the Dutch and Swedish synth lines we were hearing on tour,” explains Far East Movement’s Kev Nish, “so we dove head-first into recording and performing in Europe.”

This unique musical instinct has already yielded Far East Movement two top 10 singles from Dirty Bass in the UK:  “Live My Life” and “Turn Up the Love.”  The latter has gone Top 10 in 10 additional countries including Australia where it was performed by the X-Factor finalists on the show’s season finale. The video for “Turn Up The Love” has over 38 million views on VEVO and is the current single from Far East Movement here in the US.

Far East Movement’s current single in the UK, “Get Up (Rattle)” – a collaboration with European EDM duo Bingo Players – is no. 1 on the UK iTunes Official midweek chart and has been added to prestigious A-list rotation on BBC’s Radio 1.  Its impending Top 5 debut will mark Far East Movement’s third top 10 hit in the UK from the current Dirty Bass album and over 12 million singles sold to-date around the world.

“We’re excited to come home and show everyone what we’ve been up to abroad.” explains Nish, “So we’re taking our mashed-up, “Turn Up the Love” electro-bounce sound to the clubs we came up in.”

The “Turn Up the Love Club Tour” will launch next month and will feature a full DJ-style set by Far East Movement as well as an opening set from Cherrytree label-mate Colette Carr – who just debuted her Skitszo EP series www.colettecarr.com – and Matthew Koma – fresh off his hits with Zedd (“Spectrum”) and Alesso (“Years”) – on select dates.
