Fenster Returns to the US For East Coast Dates + CMJ

By on October 3, 2012

NY-Berlin trio Fenster is returning to the US for a run of East Coast dates and performances at CMJ’12 in support of their debut full-length,Bones, out now on Morr Music. The new dates follow the group’s first ever US shows this past spring in NYC and SXSW ’12. In celebration of the tour they have offered a remix of single ‘Oh Canyon‘ reworked by Slow Steve, a french composer and music activist living in Berlin. The band’s producer Tadklimp, who worked on Bones, will  join Fenster as their fourth member on tour.

Fenster began as New York native JJ Weihl and Berlin-based Jonathan Jarzyna started experimenting with de-constructed pop music, layering subtle distortions, melodic chords and city soundscapes under dream narratives. Their new album Bones takes its narrative structure from the associative logic of dreams, weaving morbid imagery and playful fairy tales together into a sardonic play against backdrops of dark forests, train rides, graveyards, mountains and seashores. With influences ranging from the Velvet Underground, to the sounds of broken records, the hum of a washing machine, or the faint melodies of oldies tunes through their kitchen radio, at times, you might be reminded of an American version of The xx.
