Fenster’s ‘Spring Break’ Is Your Dream Vacation on Bath Salts

By on April 8, 2013

NY/Berlin weird-pop outfit Fenster (Jonathan Jarzyna and JJ Weihl) have the right idea about Spring Break. The new animated video for ‘Spring Break‘ is a trip that ranges from parties on the back of a killer whale, people being zombified by tainted “Dude Ale,” and the most outlandish scenes from a party poisoned by bath-salts. Between the killer dolphins, humans turning into dogs, and even an animated Fenster concert, each view of the video will have you finding some small nuance you didn’t notice before. In fact, the video is so great it’s been nominated for a Berlin Music Award for Best Animated Video where your views HERE count as your vote.

Not only have Fenster been keeping busy with crazy videos like ‘Spring Break,’ but they also have their hand in the soundtracking world. Working with a Berlin dance company and choreographer David Bloom, Fenster are a part of the “Sex and Space” project that seeks to combine artistic dance and sexual explicitness. The project is currently being funded via Indiegogo

With Fenster’s first record Bones, they began experimenting with de-constructed pop music layering subtle distortions, melodic chords and city soundscapes under dream narratives. With influences ranging from the Velvet Underground, to the sounds of broken records, the hum of a washing machine, or the faint melodies of oldies tunes through their kitchen radio, at times, you might be reminded of an American version of The xx. Since the release of Bones last year on Morr Music, Fenster have begun working on their sophomore album. Thankfully, we can catch them on tour in the meantime or just watch ‘Spring Break’ on repeat. Fenster is Jonathan Jarzyna (DE), JJ Weihl (USA), Slow Steve (FR) and Tadklimp (GR).
