The Forecastle Festival is excited to announce several additions to its acclaimed lineup for the 11th annual three-day music celebration, including Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters and more. The event will again take place July 12 – 14, 2013 at Louisville’s scenic, award-winning Waterfront Park.

Robert Plant and his amazing new group of conspirators the Sensational Space Shifters will be performing songs from every era of Plant’s storied career. Before his recent projects in Nashville with Alison Krauss and Band of Joy, Plant worked alongside the very interesting force, “Strange Sensation,” recording the critically acclaimed, multi-Grammy nominated albums “Dreamland” and “Mighty Rearranger.” From this platform, Sensational Space Shifters developed. Now together this band will dig deeper and more intensely, always twisting and turning, bringing the past into a brilliant technicolor present.

Also added to the lineup are German producer Boys Noize, singer/songwriter Sarah Jarosz and the soulful sensuality of Los Angeles’ inc. A full list of confirmed acts can be found below.

In addition to performances at Waterfront Park, the Forecastle Festival will feature late night shows on the historic Belle of Louisville and other landmark locations throughout Louisville. Headliners The String Cheese Incident will make a special late night appearance at the Louisville Palace on Saturday, July 13th. Tickets for The String Cheese Incident late night show will go on sale April 13. Weekend passes for the festival are on sale now. Details on other late night performances, as well as info on the daily schedule and single day tickets, will be announced in April.

Highlighted in Rolling Stone as a top event in 2012, and acclaimed by Outside as one of the “Top 15 Outdoor Festivals in the USA,” the Forecastle Festival has evolved into one of the country’s premier festival destinations.  The event offers an immersive experience that’s distinctly Louisville- beyond the first-class musical lineup-highlighting the region’s burgeoning culinary and arts scene, Kentucky’s unique bourbon heritage and more.  The festival continues to emphasize sustainability practices and conservation initiatives, highlighted through the festival’s non-profit organization, the Forecastle Foundation.
