Announces 7″ Single on Neon Gold Records
“The frontman, Keenan Mitchell, has a huge, glorious voice – washed out but not sleazy, embodying hope and triumph.”

“We can’t wait til the surf-rock quintet makes music full time. It’s selfish, we know, but once we got a taste of what they’re capable of from their self-titled EP, we’re dying for more of their grunge-sun sound.”
“Though we’ve known about beachy indie rockers Fort Lean for a little while, the group made a major splash at CMJ.”
Brooklyn-based quintet Fort Lean is excited to share its new music video for single “Beach Holiday,” off their self-titled EP (out now). Check out the video at the SPIN premiere or YouTube.
Fort Lean will also release a 7″ single of the track, “Sunsick,” on Neon Gold Records (home of Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, DOM, and Gotye) on February 28th.
The video, directed by Ethan Berger, was filmed in and around Emily’s Pork Store, a neighborhood relic in the Italian section of Willamsburg, Brooklyn. Lead singer Keenan Mitchell and the band find themselves more interested in playing rock ‘n roll than serving their customers guanciale and braciole on this sweaty summer day. The video, brimming with Devo references and eye-catching saturated colors, helps capture the electrifying live performance that Fort Lean is known for.
Fort Lean, championed for its big, anthemic rock songs, was chosen by NPR as one of their 12 Favorite Acts at CMJ and awarded the title of Runner Up for Best “New” Band of CMJ by Stereogum. NME declared Fort Lean the 5th Best Band at CMJ as well, digging its “atmospheric brand of space rock helped by their singer’s dramatic and uber-confident voice.”
The band will play one New York show before the end of the year, opening for Bear Hands on December 16th at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Stay tuned for news on the 2012 full-length release and national tour.
