French Horn Rebellion reveals Caaalifornia feat Ghost Beach via This Song Is Sick + new tour dates

By on October 3, 2013

Caaalifornia: land of tan and healthy people, where the weather’s always perfect and the beaches are always warm. We all know someone who ventured westward looking for sunshine and waves, fulfilling their own manifest destiny. Growing up in the Midwest it seemed like a magical far-off land we only saw on television or in the movies — glitz, glamour and palm trees in So-Cal, Danny Tanner and trolley cars in No-Cal.

As we head into another winter we look West, remembering our past summer and longing for California’s eternal one. In our Next Jack Swing style, and featuring the vocals of Ghost Beach, this one goes out to all our friends who ventured to the best coast looking for an endless summer of surfing and tacos. Caaalifornia, we’re comin’ for ya!

French Horn Rebellion premiered Caaalifornia via This Song is Sick and they’re offering it as a free download in exchange for a tweet (+ they encourage you to send the track to your favorite Californian lady or gent). The single with remixes from Solidisco, Quinten 909 and The Soundmen will come out on 10/22 on French Horn Rebellion Records.

French Horn Rebellion are Robert and David Perlick-Molinari, two brothers born and bred in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. In 2007, younger brother Robert was playing French horn in the Chicago Civic Orchestra, and decided to make hot beats instead. After telling the conductor that Mahler isn’t fun anymore he asked his bassoon-toting brother, David to join with him. And so it was, a French Horn Rebellion began.

Since then, they boys have travelled 5 continents with French horn slung over their back, doing shows with MGMT, Yelle, Cut Copy, and others along the way. Also, they’ve pioneered a new genre called ‘Next Jack Swing,’ like New Jack, but with heavy beats and funkier bass lines. Their latest EPs, Poster Girl (with Database), Girls (ft JD Samson and Fat Tony) and Love is Dangerous (ft J Pat from The Knocks), Dancing Out (ft Jody Watley) and Friday Nights (with Viceroy) are out now.
