Founded in 2007 by friends Gibby Miller and Ryan Martin, Dais Records prides itself on re-releasing
lost/unheard/forgotten material and providing a home for bold new sounds in need of release.
This spring Dais announces the release of two truly unique albums from American Black Metal purveyor Lord Foul and mysterious underground French outfit Ghédalia Tazartès.
While releasing obscure, challenging material and noise recordings, the label echoes the intentions of a classic imprint like Folkways, collecting and disseminating sound to broaden the understanding of a social field.
DAIS 018 : Lord Foul – Killing Raping Burning / The Devil’s Advocate is an absolute time capsule of blasphemous American Black Metal, a collection of the only material (two demo cassettes) ever recorded by Louisville, Kentucky’s Lord Foul between 1993 and 1994, who’s only member“Roach” played and recorded every instrument. A hateful document from the early metal underground!
DAIS 021 : Ghédalia Tazartès Diasporas is a reissue of an extremely obscure, yet highly respected French private press avant-garde record from 1979, famed for being on the classic “Nurse With Wound List.” This bizarre gypsy/ psych/ folk/ noise/ parlor waltz/ experimental album blows away classification and original copies of this LP are highly sought after.
Impose Magazine invited Gibby and Ryan to create their own introduction to the label.
For the first time, Dais Records offers up a complete sampling of all previous releases.
