The center serves homeless and at risk veterans and their families by providing resources, peer to peer counseling, and financial assistance in Tippecanoe County, surrounding Indiana counties, and select counties of Illinois.
“This center does a great service for our area Veterans and it is needed even more with our troops returning from the Global War on Terror. There is a transition going back into civilian life, and many of us don’t understand it. That’s what the center does; it picks up our veterans if they stumble a bit or need other help along the way. Goodstock’s mission is to earn resources for the center so they can get to these local vets. We are on a noble mission to help, and it’s just a pure honor to support these local Heroes. We invite area communities to join us to have a great time and participate in this worthy cause.” said Dillon Hall, President of the Goodland Park Board
Located on U.S. 24 just a few miles west of I-65, Goodland is a small town of about 1000 residents with a proven patriotic heart. Every year it hosts the Goodland Grand Prix paying homage to our veterans. This is the same community that hosted the Vietnam Memorial Wall Traveling Tribute in 2009 which welcomed over 10,000 visitors. Goodland is prepared to handle up to 4,000 Goodstock visitors in support of the MaryT.KlinkerVeteransCenter. Ticket sales are limited.
MTK was founded in 2011 by Lafayette area residents who have a passion to support our veterans. “The Goodstock effort will help us offer services that other means have missed or failed,” said MTK, Executive Director, Jim Logsdon, disable Vietnam Veteran, (the real Lieutenant Dan according to Medal of Honor Recipient, Sammy L. Davis.) ‘This event will make a huge impact and with the community’s support. We’ll be there to explain our services and we always need volunteers for health care, handyman work, mental health professionals, and more.”
