Grenadina head to Vibe Studios (Mantua, OH) in May to begin recording their sophomore EP following their highly praised debut, Pretend for Me. After a rapidly successful Kickstarter campaign in effort to fund the recording of their new EP– the group overwhelmingly achieved their funding goal in a matter of twelve consecutive days– Grenadina will be at the hands of Producer/Engineer Johnny Burke (Abandon All Hope, Modern Day Escape). The band will be filming their debut music video with Express Media. The album is scheduled to be announced in late-April.

Grenadina is comprised of four fluorescent and fierce women ready to clinch the pop rock status quo and wring it out a bit. Amicably described as the procreation of Brand New, An Horse, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and Fugazi, the ladies pride themselves in the coining of “girlcore”—a soft-mannered pun at the lack of a female presence in heavy music. While Grenadina may not be the next Meshuggah, they are keeping their footprints deep in the darkened melodramatic indie foundation that has earned them “Best EP of 2012” for Pretend for Me  via Kill Your TV KC. Currently ranked at Number 1 on Reverbnation’s local indie charts for Lawrence, KS, the band has received much praise from national artists and publications:

“Grenadina… Angular and angry punk rock tunes.” –Max Bemis, Say Anything

“…I loved their ambiance. The dramatic atmosphere is lightly coated over the guitar’s intricate and delightfully complex melodies. If you’re looking for something simple and obvious, this isn’t it.” –Monica Soto, Camp Kansas City Magazine

“Blending indie, punk, alternative, and other variations, this all-girl band has created something very rhythmic and memorable. There’s a demo quality to the recordings that actually adds to the atmosphere surrounding Pretend For Me, and the lyrical content is top notch.” –Nathaniel Lay, Lexington Music Press

“In a world that is still not used to having a fully-fledged female band, this group of musicians seems to be set on ignoring the fact that the world is that shallow by giving us music that demands full attention.” –Chris Axe, Indie Music Reviewer

“…it is the raw guitar work of Steph Castor that gives the band its depth and soul. Her playing shifts from sizzling leads to atmospheric notes to bombastic minor chords in an instant, and recalls my favourite Ian MacKaye in Fugazi moments. If I were to start a band tomorrow, Castor would be my first call. ” –Sid Sower, Too Much Rock
