SPRING 2012 TOUR DATES IN THE WORKS

After kicking off 2012 in the most incredible way – by opening a sold-out show for Deadmau5 at NYC’s Terminal 5, Brooklyn’s most dynamic dance-pop duo HANK & CUPCAKES is tearing full-speed ahead with the release of its first single “Liquid Mercury” from the upcoming as-yet-untitled album (due in late Spring 2012). “Liquid Mercury” has also been released to radio stations across the US, so expect to hear it everywhere around you soon! The single is available for streaming on YouTube and ready to be embedded on your site at http://youtu.be/Qmp2NYuXMaA and it can be purchased from iTunes here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/liquid-mercury-single/id493634891. A video for the track is currently in post-production and will be premiered soon.
Hank & Cupcakes spent this last August in Berlin recording their full-length debut (tentatively scheduled for a June release) with producer Ludwig Boss (A Band of Horses) at the legendary Hansa Studios (David Bowie, R.E.M., Nick Cave, KT Tunstall, Depeche Mode, Iggy Pop, U2). From there, the band who Time Out New York calls a “must see” embarked on a cross-country tour including dates at CMJ. Early 2012 sees the band poised to take over Europe and the Middle East with several dates abroad (they played Sweden and Israel just this last week and have two dates in Madrid and Barcelona next week). Hank & Cupcakes fans stateside fear not – the pair is in the process of booking a Spring US tour to begin in March.
Incessant action and whirlwind touring are nothing new to Hank & Cupcakes, who formed in Tel Aviv just prior to moving to Cuba where they spent six months of musical exploration. The duo ended up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn almost two years ago, drawn by what Cupcakes describes as “the music, the streets, the energy, the electricity and the nonstop movement of NYC… We feel we can’t just sit still here and have the urge to be in constant musical motion.” But if these two feel drawn to NYC, it’s clear that the city strongly reciprocates that very sentiment.
Their self-titled EP burst with insanely tight, danceable songs that earned praise from MTV (“fresh new artist”), Paste, URB Magazine, Village Voice, New York Post, and Time Out New York among others. The upcoming year certainly looks to be as promising for the duo as the last, and missing their live shows as they tour this spring is ill-advised – as Huffington Post said, “the most fun you will have listening to any band in the new year – guaranteed!”
