Harbor Records Signs Galleries, To Reissue Tall Tales With Two Bonus Tracks

By on August 1, 2013

Harbor Records has just announced their signing of New York’s Galleries. The band’s vocalist Stephen Klipp commented on the signing by saying, “Galleries is very excited to be teaming up with Harbor Records. We were happy when the label reached out to us because we’re always looking to expose our music to a wider audience while still maintaining the DIY mentality that has been part of the band since the beginning. We look at this as a step forward, we’ll still be working hard for the band, but it’s really nice to have such a supportive team on our side.” With Harbor Records’ Owner Ryan Williford adding, “When I first heard Tall Tales, I knew I had to sign the band. Their sound is unlike anything you hear nowadays while also being highly captivating. This is only the beginning as the band will continue to push themselves to new limits.”
Galleries will also see their March 2013 EP, Tall Tales, reissued through Harbor Records with two bonus tracks before starting work on their debut full length album. On the newer material guitarist Rion Welsh commented, “I know a ton of bands always say this, but we’re trying to do something different. We know that there is a ceiling for how far we can progress if we just try to replicate music that’s already been made by other bands, and that’s not what we’re trying to accomplish with Galleries. Originality is very important to us, and we’ve been experimenting with a lot with different tunings, scales, and modes to help us during the songwriting process.  We’re very pleased to be working with a group of likeminded individuals that won’t push us to sound a certain way or appeal to a certain audience.”

2. Building Castles In The Air

The quintet known as Galleries have released three EPs – Breathe And Repeat (2011), It’s All In The Timing (2011), and Tall Tales (2013) – since their 2010 establishment in Oneonta, New York. The band started as, and will always be five normal guys who go to school and work normal day jobs like everyone else. Drummer Zach Cosentino states, “In our three years as a band, I think that we’ve made great strides in both our musical output and our ability to function as a band. We believe that our sound is ever-progressing and each release brings evolution and innovation without straying too far from the core sound and style that we’ve developed. Above anything though, we’re all just great friends who would be hanging out regularly even if we weren’t in Galleries, I mean three of us live together.” Guitarist Robert Campchero adds, “A lot of our life as a band thus far has been really rushed. Between juggling school, work, and other personal responsibilities we’ve had to utilize some unconventional song writing techniques. I don’t want to say that we aren’t satisfied with our previous efforts, but now with this label support and the fact that we’re all close together geographically, we feel that our upcoming full length will make leaps and bounds over our previous releases both musically and lyrically.” The band will see their latest EP, Tall Tales, re-issued on September 10th through Harbor Records with two bonus tracks off It’s All In The Timing before starting work on their debut full-length.
