LA-based trio Hello Echo has released a new stop-motion video for its song “Why Are We Waiting?” The claymation video was cleverly created by member Sean Aylward in the band’s practice space with his own tools and props. This fall, Hello Echo released their Coffee Cups EP, a quick mix of alternative, punk, surf, blues and folk, and will release its sophomore album due out in 2013. The band will play its 5th annual ‘Day After Xmas’ show on December 26 at Johnny D’s in Somerville, MA.

Last year Hello Echo released their debut LP, Hello, which saw regular rotation on Sirius XMU and KEXP, with Pitchfork calling it “a very solid debut by a band with plenty of talent.” The band started after Sean Aylward (vocals, guitar) spent two years touring and recording with Apollo Sunshine (Rolling Stone’s Artist to Watch, November 2005) and headed to the West Coast to begin writing and recording solo material. While on a surfing trip in Baja, Mexico, an impromptu jam arose with friends and fellow Bostonians, Mike Silva (drums, vocals) and Mike Sarno (bass). The chemistry was immediate, and Hello Echo was born. “Maybe it’s their East Coast roots, which combined with a youthful, laid back West Coast style, that makes for a well-rounded sound” (KEXP).
