Alternative pop-rock quartet Icarus The Owl announce their signing to Blue Swan Records today. “Since Icarus The Owl started, we only wanted to work with people who valued music on a creative level,” said vocalist and guitarist Joey Rubenstein. “That being said, Blue Swan Records, to us, are a label founded by creatives that care about the progression and merit of music. There is a real sense of community and friendship among the Blue Swan fans and bands and we feel lucky to announce that we have signed with them.”

The band is currently in the midst of recording their debut album with Blue Swan Records with producer Stephen Hawkes of Interlace Audio. “We hope to have the album out by the end of the year. Expect melodies, guitars to be making sounds, pianos to be pianoing, and probably some drumming,” added Rubenstein. Along with their signing, the band announced the that they will join the southwest leg of the Allomaternal Tour with Stolas, Artifex Pereo and Eidola this July and are to play additional shows on the way.

Icarus The Owl just completed a spring tour in support of A Lot Like Birds, followed by a short stint of dates with The Venetia Fair leading up to their performance at the 2015 Launch Music Conference & Festival.

Blue Swan Records, owned and operated by Will Swan of Dance Gavin Dance, continues to build its roster of close-knit, high-energy bands.

Biography: Icarus The Owl is an alternative rock band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2009. Alternative Press describes their sound as “technical pop-rock…equal parts ferocious guitar lines and infectious melodies, Icarus are sure to surprise at every turn.”

Without the help of a label, the band was able to distribute their 2009 debut album, “The Spotless Mind” in stores such as Hot Topic and other independent retailers across the nation. The band has also licensed music and appeared on MTV programming.

Their latest release, “Icarus The Owl” came out in February of 2014. It was produced by Kris Crummett (Dance Gavin Dance, Sleeping With Sirens, A Lot Like Birds) at Interlace Audio in Portland, OR as a follow up to the band’s 2012 release, “Love Always, Leviathan”.

Before signing with Artery Global, Icarus The Owl has booked themselves on over 15 national tours each averaging 7 weeks in length, Including an appearance on the “Kevin Says Stage” on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour. Throughout these tours, the band has shared the stage with The Ataris, The Story So Far, From Indian Lakes, Dance Gavin Dance, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, We Came As Romans, Becoming The Archetype, Protest The Hero, Tesseract, The Dangerous Summer, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, and many more.

In the last year, Icarus The Owl headlined their first European tour. Icarus The Owl was also a part of the first ever Blue Swan Records (Will Swan of Dance Gavin Dance) tour featuring Hail The Sun and Stolas, which covered the entire United States. Icarus supported A Lot Like Birds on a nationwide tour in 2015. They were recently part of the 2015 Launch Tour.
