With the dawning of spring upon us, Imminence Records is pleased to announce their expansion into Australia with the signings of two Australian bands. The first being Brisbane’s Apate, who formed in the middle of 2013 and has quickly moved up the ranks in their region and recently released their newest single entitled “Purgatory.” While the new single saw a departure from the sound the band had crafted on their debut EP, it shows the band’s progression into a sound that is a lot more technical while being heavier, slower, and having a more pronounced lyrical background.

To celebrate their signing to Imminence Records, the guys in Apate took the late Robin Williams words to heart when he said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!,”” by holding a party for themselves and filming it as their announcement video. While the video may be seen HERE, Ben adds, “We are beyond stoked to finally announce as being a part of the Imminence Records family. It is a huge achievement and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us now that we have a solid record label backing us.” Fans can expect more Australian based shows throughout the spring and summer before Apate releases their brand new release this fall.
The second Australian band signing to Imminence Records is Perth’s Cloak & Dagger. This metalcore outfit was also formed in 2013 and released their debut EP in 2014. Vocalist Jordan Phoebe had this to say on the signing, “It’s awesome! We have big plans for this year and we’re really fortunate to have found a label that supports us and helps us to create the art we want to create. We have a whole bunch of new songs written and we’re working on more every day so that we can make the best music we can. We’re playing shows all over the place and working on ideas for new merch, so it’s all very new and exciting.”
RIYL: Bring Me The Horizon, The Devil Wears Prada, While She Sleeps
Cloak & Dagger forwent the party as they were hard at work putting the finishing touches on their brand new single. “Stay Gold” will be off the band’s upcoming label debut that will be released late summer or fall of this year, with ordan commented on it by saying, “The song is all about living without regret and being yourself in what I see as an increasingly homogenized world. There’s a lot of pressure to be a certain way and if you can’t make a certain standard it can be pretty depressing, which I think sucks, but if you can be happy with who you are, you’ll be okay.”
Jordan continued by comparing the new material to the debut EP, “We wanted it to sound distinct and show our progression as musicians without sacrificing the sound that got us to this point, so rather than reinventing ourselves, we focused on just developing our sound and getting better at what we do. Lyrically, the EP was all about catharsis and getting things off my chest, and while there is still a fair bit of that, I also wanted to write things that other people could relate to.”
Hailing from Brisbane, the down-tempo/hardcore outfit of Apate formed in the middle of 2013. The band soon went to work on their debut single, entitled “Stick Tight,” which they released at the end of July of that year. The single and the rest of their explosive set got their quickly expanding fanbase moving and singing along throughout. They finished off 2013 by hitting the studio to record their debut EP, which would turn into Pandora’s Box. Pandora’s Box would be released April 12th of 2014 and quickly followed by the band’s Katy Perry cover. The band would continue playing shows and working to climb in the Brisbane scene before releasing their next single “Purgatory.” The single soon caught the attention of Imminence Records, who was eyeing an expansion into Australia, and the band announced their signing in the middle of March. 2015 will see the band hitting the road and working on their label debut.
