Indie pop trio Donora launch Play Nice, a five song EP, on January 29th via Rostrum Records with a private performance at Club Café in their native Pittsburgh. In February, the group embarks on a Mid-West/East coast tour on their way to SXSW 2013 in Austin, Texas in March.
Play Nice follows 2011s critically acclaimed Boyfriends, Girlfriends. With its “cheer-infused ‘50s girl-group vibe and sunny lyrics,” Nylon Magazine predicts “they won’t be a Pittsburgh secret for long.”
The album yielded three singles on FMQB Top 25 including airplay on stations such as KROQ and WXRT national commercial placements for Chase Bank and McDonald’s and TV show placements on Fox’s Glee, ABC’s Switched At Birth, and MTV’s Cribs, Underaged and Engaged, and True Life amongst others. MTV’s Buzzworthy also premiered their video for And Then The Girls. Currently, their hit “I Think I Like You” appears in a Nationwide Insurance campaign and was previously featured for DKNY.
Originally a duo of sister/brother Casey Hanner (vocals, guitar) and Jake Hanner (drums, samples), the siblings recruited Jake Churton (bass) to round out their trio and released a self-titled debut in 2009. Since then, they’ve toured the U.S., headlining as well as supporting artist such as Passion Pit, Sharon Van Etten, and Dr. Dog. Play Nice is their third release on Pittsburgh based Rostrum Records. They headline a two-week tour beginning February 6 in Cleveland.
