Gearing up for the release of their brand new album _hello world, one of electronic music’s most influential bands INFORMATION SOCIETY (aka “InSoc”) are launching a PledgeMusic campaign to unveil their new record. Featuring a dozen different packages including some limited edition exclusives, the PledgeMusic campaign will be the homestretch towards the album’s release on September 23, 2014 via HAKATAK International/MVD.
As another avenue to reach fans and garner new ones, INSOC will be utilizing the massive reach of the direct-to-fan music platform to expand their orbit. “We wanted to insure that as many people as possible are exposed to the new album,” explains Paul Robb. “It’s difficult to connect with fans who don’t already follow us on Facebook and Twitter. PledgeMusic offers us an opportunity to reach fans, old and new, and gives our super fans a single place to visit to both get whatever flavor of the release they want, as well as insure they get all the updates and fun extra content we’re working on to surprise them with.”
Among the exclusives are limited edition posters and patches, handwritten lyrics sheets, t-shirts, and vinyl albums. The marquee package however is the _hello world Deluxe Box Set which includes a CD, vinyl and digital copy of the new album, an autographed white vinyl 7″, a t-shirt, a logo cap, poster, patch, stickers, and an exclusive InSoc Nootropic Synthino – a fully functional MIDI synthesizer. Priced at $235, the package is limited to only 100. “We had a long discussion amongst ourselves about what the ultimate InSoc fan package might look like,” Robb explains. “We’ve always had a significant number of audio, video and computer enthusiasts following us so when we realized we could actually make an InSoc branded, high-quality, hackable midi synthesizer, we were hell bent on making it a reality. With regular updates planned featuring exclusive new music, remixes, and other content, the PledgeMusic site will give fans further insight into the band’s journey to the new album. With songs like the anthemic “The Prize” with its retro voice emulator intro, to the deep house-inflected “Get Back”, to their faithful cover of DEVO‘s “Beautiful World” which feature the vocals of Gerald V Casale, _hello world propels InSoc into the current mainstream while hearkening back to their seminal roots. “It’s been a long time a-comin’,” continues Robb about the 21 year gap between recordings since the last time original band members Robb, vocalist Kurt Larson, and bassist/keyboardist James Cassidy collaborated, “but I defy anyone to say this isn’t the best Information Society album ever!”
