Fan, meet artist; Artist, meet FeedbackLoop. FeedbackLoop is a platform that uses subscription revenue to fund music and other creative projects, delivering those projects back to subscribers at the end of every month. Based in Philadelphia, PA, FeedbackLoop launched in January 2013 on a mission to create a happier, healthier entertainment industry by helping users discover their new favorite artists, and providing those artists with transparent dollars free of equity or recoupment requirements typically seen in music distribution deals. Justin Chapman, a record producer and independent musician, created FeedbackLoop to make the entertainment industry a better place. “We’re working hard to find an equation that ends up positive on both sides, whether you’re just looking for a new song to listen to on your way to work, or you wake up every morning in a van on your way to the next show”, Chapman shares. FeedbackLoop users can “pay what they want” when they sign up, with a minimum of $2/month. All subscribers will receive digital access to the entire catalog, with subscribers paying $10 and up also receiving a monthly physical package, coined the FeedbackLoop Time Capsule.
A sneak peak at projects targeted for the early months of FeedbackLoop include songs by top Philadelphia-based artists Minka (indie rock), W.C. Lindsay (electro pop), Lucy Stone (indie pop) and Indiana-based composer/percussionist, Evan Chapman. Lucy Stone tells us, “It is a rare occurrence for musicians and bands to find an outlet for their creativity that is supportive and motivating, and we believe that FeedbackLoop is the solution to such a dilemma. FeedbackLoop serves to connect artists and potential fans in a manner that is meaningful and sincere. We are thrilled to take part in a movement towards a more innovative community of musicians and listeners.“
In a time when the music industry is oversaturated with bands and artists, FeedbackLoop creates a meaningful connection between new talent and potential fans. Evan Chapman shares, “Doing this project will give me exposure amongst a group of people who genuinely care about innovative music. It’s one thing to release covers to the Internet through YouTube (as I already do), but it is another thing to release one to such a supportive and honest community that I think the subscribers of FeedbackLoop will be. Overall, I’m very excited to be in on the early stages of FeedbackLoop. It’s a really remarkable idea, and there’s no one better suited to make it a reality than Justin.”
