Introducing New York six-piece indie rock stompers Teen Girl Scientist Monthly.
.
Emerging from a bedroom in Bushwick and setting loud, sweaty shows on fire all over NYC,
Teen Girl Scientist Monthly takes the diverse musical histories of its members
to create a completely new and entirely original sound.
.
Their debut EP, Pioneer Ghost, is five tracks of epic, orchestral rock
combining elements of country, folk, pop and post-punk held within handmade album art by the band.
.
For an up close and personal introduction to the independently released music from the EP,

“With their male-female vocal dynamic, prominent violin parts, and danceable percussion, the line-up invites comparisons to indie rock royalty like Ra Ra Riot and The Arcade Fire. ButTGSM’s sound often seems more indebted to country, folk, and post-punk. Their high-energy music is often unconventionally danceable, as in EP opening “Can’t Sleep,” which is propelled by a fast country snare. Standout track “Riverstomp” meanwhile evokes a sort of Caribbean-by-way-of-Appalachia sound.”

Meet Teen Girl Scientist Monthly
Teen Girl Scientist Monthly is a 6-piece rock group based in New York City. They sound like Arcade Fire and Black Lips fooling around in the bathroom..
The band is Matt Berger (vocals/guitar), Matt Gliva (bass), Anne Hartung (violin), Morgan Lynch (vocals), Cathy Thomas (keyboards) and Hiroyuki Matsuura (drums). They began playing together in August 2010..
Berger, Gliva and Lynch hail from the NYC post-punk band the Hey!, which clattered and sparked in NYC basements through 2009. They rounded up again in Summer 2010, calling in former musical theatre director Thomas, and Matsuura, a popular drummer-for-hire in a number of local bands. Gliva brought old friend and collaborator Hartung on board, and they set up shop in Berger’s Bushwick bedroom, fiddling with a handful of fractured punk, folk and pop tunes. Teen Girl Scientist Monthly debuted two weeks later at the National Underground on August 30th, 2010..
In December 2010, they released their first EP, titled Pioneer Ghost. They record and release independently and design and produce their album art by hand.
