Judith Hill will give her original song “Desperation” its television debut this Friday, June 7, when she performs on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” The track is featured on 20 Feet From Stardom: Music From The Motion Picture (Columbia Records), the soundtrack from the compelling new film from award-winning director Morgan Neville, which opens in select theatres on June 14 before expanding in the weeks to follow.
The soundtrack will be available digitally on June 7 via all digital service providers and is currently available for pre-order at Amazon here. It will be released physically on June 18. Hill is featured on three other songs that appear on the 20 Feet From Stardom soundtrack.
In addition to penning and performing her own material, Judith – who wrote her first song at the age of four – has backed such artists as the late Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Elton John. Hers is one of the stories told in 20 Feet From Stardom. The film shines the spotlight on the untold true story of the backup singers behind
some of the greatest musical legends of the 21st century. The 20 Feet From Stardom trailer can be seen here.
USA Today observed: “20 Feet From Stardom features some of the catchiest and most memorable refrains, riffs and hooks sung by background vocalists, and tells the personal stories of some of the best voices in the business…in this film the stadium-filling rock stars play second fiddle.”
Rolling Stone has praised Hill’s “stellar powerhouse vocals.” She was also a contestant on season four of “The Voice.” Judith will perform on the Main Stage at LA PRIDE 2013 in her hometown of Los Angeles this Sunday, June 9, at 7:00 PM. The 3-day celebration runs June 7th to June 9th and kicks off Friday with the Purple Celebration, a Party for Women and a Free Admission event. The weekend festivities include live entertainment, parties, art exhibits and the iconic Pride Parade. For more info, or for tickets visit: www.lapride.org.
