College graduates Melissa Menago (vocals/guitar) and Chris Kissel (guitar) were on the hunt in a struggling job market, so they began writing songs to keep their sanity. Those songs turned into a band when they found drummer, Keith Gill, on a Craigslist ad. “It was all in fun until the three of us came together and realized that the band had life of it’s own. So we ran with it, and here we are,” says Menago. After adding Rich Mancinelli on bass, and recording a 6-song debut EP with, the band has been running at an exploding pace, with no intention of slowing down.
Drawing inspiration from bands like Jimmy Eat World, Explosions in the Sky, and Yellowcard, the band uses post-rock guitar work, heavy hitting alt-pop drums, and pop-rock sensibilities for a sound that’s all their own. “A good song is universal,” says Menago, “It’s something we can all feel in one way or another.”
Having played along side bands such as There For Tomorrow, Terrible Things, Punchline, Bright & Early, I Call Fives, Person L, and Fake Problems as well as at SXSW 2011 and 2011 Vans Warped Tour, it’s no wonder the Philadelphia-based group is getting a lot of attention.
