Kill Matilda

Zombie hunters by day and sweaty dance punkers by night, Kill Matilda is a sexy band of nomads that have played over 181 shows coast to coast across Canada since 2008. This fall, the Vancouver three-piece finally takes its energetic act to the USA for an awesome six-month tour of zombie-slaying madness. Frontperson Dusty Exner has been called “Joan Jett on steroids” vocally and the band has been compared to everything from “riotgrrl” to “a mix of Die Mannequin, Concrete Blonde, Switchblade Symphony and Danko Jones.”

Kill Matilda has been featured at festivals such as NXNE, Hamilton Spring Music Festival, Soreal Fest, Grindyourmind Drummondville Metal Fest, and many more. The band has opened for such legends as the Vibrators, Guttermouth, the Brains, Die Mannequin, Econoline Crush and Powerman 5000. Their relentless DIY work ethic has seen the band call Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto home over the last four years and has won them the attention of industry giants such as GGGarth Richardson, Ben Kaplan & Scott Ternan, who recorded & mixed 6 songs with the band at Fader Mountain Studios in Vancouver, BC.

Killing zombies and playing in a band is never easy, but it’s especially difficult when your tour van is an old rickety bucket of bolts. Indiegogo gives Kill Matilda fans, friends, and family the opportunity to help the band travel safely.

Indiegogo supporters interested in passionate and motivated projects and Kill Matilda fans will be making an effort to raise $5000 together to upgrade the band’s touring lifestyle. You can help send a committed and seasoned band south, give them the chance to be heard by a larger market, and to keep the undead threat down to a dull roar.

The Mission!

Any vehicle driven by these undead-smashing maniacs has to be loaded for bear. Having grown up on the mean streets of East Vancouver and the trailer parks of Prince George gives the band members an evolutionary advantage – the ability to make magic happen on a shoestring budget. This team needs at least $4000 for a new Zombiemobile and an additional $1000 for necessary repairs, insurance, and flamethrowers. Also included in the budget would be an artistic vinyl vehicle wrap courtesy of Toronto printing company Notion Ink, which would incorporate the names of the people who have assisted in this fundraiser for a mere contribution of $25.

Some of the kick-ass perks that Kill Matilda are offering include:

-Signed memorabilia

-Instruments of destruction formerly wielded by the band members themselves

-Original artwork

-VINYL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN KILL MATILDA HISTORY (good things come  to those who wait!)

-Unreleased music and merch.

One amazing perk Kill Matilda is offering is a one-week rock’n’roll vacation in the band’s new van.  Go on the road and live the life of a touring musician!

The Aftermath of the Apocalypse

We all dream of a world free of the zombie plague. By supporting Kill Matilda you are helping to keep the world safe from the clutches of the walking dead. Your contributions will help a hard working independent band make the long, hard road to success a safer and more comfortable one.

In previous fundraisers Kill Matilda have made personalized dolls, fresh-baked cookies, and even an awesome personalized song. As part of the 2011 fundraiser, Kill Matilda wrote a song for a mega-fan. The band was inspired to write and record this crushing track that they are proud to make available exclusively for this fundraiser. They are once again offering the new chance to immortalize you in one of their songs!
